After just a few hours of sleep we were present again in rastede. It was a first time riding on the worlds fastest longtrack and and despite the odd shape with three corners I loved it. In the first heat I got a decent start and finished in a strong second place after I was able to overtake another rider. In the second heat I only scored 1 point after I missed out on the start. I had a good speed but with the poor visibility due to dust and flying dirt, I couldn't find a way past and had to take my loss in a 5th place.
Then, bad luck hit me. In the third heat I was in 3th place and gaining some ground when the bike became unstable going in the last lap. I decided to try my luck and keep going. I could even hold my 3th place but not being able to place the bike where I wanted I unfortunately got disqualified for exceeding the outside line. As it turns out, a spoke broke and punctured the tire. We found what was left of the spoke and the nipple inside the torn up tube, a first for everything!
In the last heat I was fighting for 2nd place when I got blasted with dirt and again passed the outside line, leading to another disqualification. I had to ride blind and misjudged it just by a few centimeters.
Missing out on the final with a 10th place the results are not at all satisfying. Still I'm pleased with my riding and I put up a good fight.
