The 2025 season started for me with a busy weekend riding the dutch open speedway meeting in Veenoord at Saturday and at Sunday the first grasstrack meeting at Balkbrug.
Saturday proofed to be a beautiful day for racing with good weather, a good crowed and a beautiful prepped track. Riding went well and I scored enough points to place myself in the B-final, which ment I was still in the race trying to maintain or maybe improve on last years third place. Unfortunately in the after a good start a first corner incident resulted in a small crash and the referee deemed me at fault resulting in a disqualification, where it really should have been all riders back. Not the result I was going for as it I was definitely still in for a place in the final, but lets not get to upset about this to much and move on.
After Sunday where I had the time to clean the speedwaybike and load the van with the grasstrack bikes for the race at Balkbrug on Monday. The annual Easter races proofed to be demanding for everyone as rain soaked the track the night before the event. Luckily the weather changed for the better and with a slight delay we could go out for practice.
Riding went alright and the track, although harsh, helt up. Even more than usual the start and first corner where crucial trying to stay out of the spray and keep your goggles clean. Eventually there wasn't more than a seventh place to be made, but more importantly I felt good on the bike and I am looking forward for the season to come.
